*AUDITION INFORMATION*

WHAT DO WE DO AT AUDITIONS?

The Academy is Divided into Three Theatrical Areas: Contemporary Comedy and Drama, Classic Theatre (Greek and Shakespeare) and Musical Theatre.

Each Academy Participant will choose 2 areas to participate in for the week.

For the auditions, there will be a performed memorized monologue and site-reading portion. If the Academy Participant chooses to do Musical Theatre, There will be a singing and dancing portion.

Academy Participants needs to memorize a 30-60 monologue to perform.

I am generally looking for what skills the children have coming into the Academy. I may give them some small directions and ask them to perform it again.

Next, Academy Participants will read and perform a short piece that I give to them. They will have 5-10 minutes to look over it, and then they will act it out – to the best of their ability.

If Academy Participants choose to do Musical Theatre, they will sing (and dance) at this time. If the Academy participant has no skill in dance, dancing is not required for the audition.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. I will be happy to answer them.
